Mandate
 
The Southeastern Ontario District (SEOD) Human Services & Justice Coordinating Committee will coordinate communication and planning efforts between local networks of health, criminal justice and7.jpg developmental service organizations in Southeastern Ontario.
 
The SEOD Human Services & Justice Coordinating Committee will provide recommendations and direction to the LHIN, MCSS and other pertinent planning bodies, in respect to service delivery issues for individuals with mental health illnesses and/or mental disorders in conflict with the law and/or who may potentially be at risk of conflict with the law, throughout the Southeastern Ontario District.

Scope
 
The work of the SEOD Human Services & Justice Coordinating Committee will consider issues related to individuals with an acquired brain injury, intellectual delay mental health illness and/or mental 17.jpgdisorders usually of a complex nature, such as concurrent disorders, dual diagnosis and acquired brain injury, that are in conflict with the law and/or at risk of conflict with the law and to coordinate local efforts on effective service coordination.
 
 
Work plan strategies assigned to each objective will include:
  • System design recommendations;
  • Crisis plans;
  • Community intervention plans;
  • Court assessment plans; and
  • Case management plans.
     

Objectives
 
To build a SEOD network of service providers and key stakeholders, including consumers and family members;

To provide a collaborative forum to consider service coordination and service
delivery issues;

To facilitate communication between relevant government services, service providers and other coordinating committees;

To identify gaps, propose solutions and advocate for the needs of the identified population;

To encourage standardized practices, including tools, assessments, and outcome measures ensuring accountability;

To use the following performance domains as guidelines to evaluate the system’s ability to meet client and family needs:

Acceptability - meets the expectations of community providers and funders;
Accessibility - is located in the right place based on needs;
Appropriateness - provides service, which is relevant to community needs;
Competence - individual members knowledge and skills are appropriate to meet the needs of the community;
Continuity - provides uninterrupted, coordinated service to the community over time;
Effectiveness - interventions or actions achieve desired results;
Efficiency - functions in the most effective manner; and
Safety - considers the potential risks of recommendations or actions and ensures that risk is avoided or minimized.

To facilitate development of collaborative education, training and research initiatives promoting better practices; and

To propose service delivery, design and policy recommendations to the regional offices of MCSS – Ministry of Child & Youth Service, LHIN other key planning bodies​
